Tekken 6 Storyline
Paul was completely drained after defeating Kuma in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5.
Paul was saddled with an enormous debt when he learned about the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6. Hoping to better his previous finish, he committed himself to winning the event to pay off his debt. Contemplating a plan to ensure his victory, Paul came to the conclusion that prior failure was due to entering the tournament alone. This time around he decided to join forces with someone else to increase his chances of winning. It was then that Paul decided to ask his long time friend, Marshall Law, to enter with him.

Tekken 5 Storyline
When defeated in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Paul
Phoenix realised his problem was overconfidence. He had forgotten some
important lessons and strayed from the path to becoming a great
fighter. Wanting torediscover what he had lost, the King of Iron Fist
Tournament 5 provided him with the perfect platform on which to prove
himself. The engine was syill running, it just needed a bit of fine
tuning!

Tekken 4 Storyline
Having won the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, even
defeating the Ogre, Paul Phoenix returned home in triumphant mood.
However, the media announced Jin Kazama as the champion. After it's
defeat at Paul's hands, the Ogre had morphed into its second form, and
the fight had continued in his absence.
Feeling cheated, Paul refused to believe he had not won the tournament, and his anger simmered. When he heard about the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Paul was instantly filled with a burning resolve to win the tournament and prove that he was the true champion!
